Tobacco Scam: Smokefree Restaurants: Simply Smokefree - Getting Involved

Tobacco Scam: Smokefree Restaurants

Getting Involved
If you run a restaurant or bar, or work in one, you're already involved. Big Tobacco spends millions of dollars a year to manipulate the hospitality industry into defending the tobacco industry's billions of dollars in profits — at your expense.

If Big Tobacco and its fronts haven't rolled into town and tried to stampede you into battling smokefree measures, they soon will. If they haven't used your hospitality association to lobby for laws that will force your business to waste tens of thousands of dollars to buy ineffective ventilation systems from collaborating vendors, protect yourself now.

The truth is out there.
And in here: TobaccoScam Resource Library...

Here's what you can do...
  • Find out if your hospitality association is on Big Tobacco's take-and do it now. Remember, the tobacco industry tries to stay in the shadows, deploying paid "experts" and working through fronts. Big Tobacco has highly-paid lobbyists and operatives in almost every state. And they keep busy all the time.

Tell your hospitality association to protect its members' interests, not the tobacco industry's profits. Demand that your association cut any and all ties with Big Tobacco and its fronts.

  • Download and print this health warranty. Approached by ventilation "experts," ask for a signature on the affidavit. If they won't sign it, you don't buy it!

  • Share what you know to protect yourself and others. This web site is for restaurant and bar owners who won't be played for chumps by Big Tobacco. The more you and your colleagues learn about the tobacco industry, the stronger and healthier hospitality will be in years to come.

Approached by a ventilation "expert" or other tobacco front? Tell us!
